My Broke Heart
After turning 60 recently I thought it would be a good idea to get a heart scan for any problems. And Problems were found. I have plaque buildup in my LAD. That the “Widow-Maker” valve. The picture above is my actual heart. This is from a CTA Scan.
CTA = Computed tomography angiography uses an injection of contrast material into your blood vessels and CT scanning to help diagnose and evaluate blood vessel disease or related conditions, such as aneurysms or blockages.
This scan was given to me only because I asked. I had no symptoms and my Dr’s did not request this. I only did it because I “could”. I knew my insurance would pay for it so why not?
I was shocked and very scared when I was told I have 50% blockage with plaque buildup. The actual diagnosis was that I had a blockage from 49% to 69%. Believe me I was like why the heck is there such a huge spread? My cardiologists tried to calm me by telling me that she actually talked to the radiologists and was told by him that it was not that bad. I was more like 50%. I never got a good clear explanation why the spread of 49% to 69%.
Regardless, from that moment in time, which was 2 months ago from the time of this writing, I stopped eating ALL MEAT. I only eat plant based with the exception of healthy fish. I dont eat anything with cholesterol!
Below you can see the actual blockage. That’s plaque! So this is double jeopardy. I can have a heart attack or I could have a catastrophic stroke if this plaque breaks off and travels further down my heart.
