Thao and Me
Before anything else, I want the world to know how incredibly fortunate I am to have found my beautiful wife, Thao. She is my partner, my family, and the woman I am profoundly grateful to walk through life beside.
Of all the chapters in my life, sharing this journey with her has been the greatest blessing. Whatever else you learn about me on these pages, know this first: I love my wife, and I never take for granted how lucky I am to have her.
I have spent a lifetime collecting stories—not because I planned to become a writer, but because life kept handing me moments worth remembering.
A Life of Service
My journey has taken me through the United States Army and the 82nd Airborne Division, a career in the United States Coast Guard, and fifteen years of federal civilian service with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Those chapters taught me about duty, discipline, leadership, perseverance, and the importance of showing up when it matters.
I am proud of the uniforms I wore and the work I did, but a résumé never tells the whole story. Life is also made from the people we love, the mistakes we survive, the lessons we learn late, and the ordinary days we do not realize are precious until they are behind us.
Retired, Not Finished
Today, I am retired—but I am far from finished. I am a husband, father, veteran, Christian, fitness enthusiast, observer of human nature, and lifelong work in progress. Faith and family remain at the center of my life. Staying active reminds me that growing older does not mean surrendering curiosity, purpose, or the determination to keep moving forward.
I do not pretend to have life figured out. I have victories I am proud of, regrets I have learned from, hard seasons I would never volunteer to repeat, and plenty of stories that make me laugh now—even if they were not funny at the time.
Why This Website Exists
MichaelAgee.com is where I document daily life honestly: memories, faith, fitness, military service, family, health challenges, humor, reflections, and the small moments that often turn out to mean the most. Some stories are serious. Some are funny. Some may be uncomfortable. All of them are part of the road I traveled.
This is not a website about presenting a perfect life. It is about paying attention while life is happening, making sense of where I have been, and leaving behind an honest record for the people I love—and perhaps for someone who recognizes a little of their own story in mine.
If something here makes you laugh, think, remember, or feel a little less alone, then this site has done exactly what I hoped it would do.
