Recently my wife and I took some personality tests for fun.\u00a0 Not surprisingly her test results showed she is a person of logic.\u00a0 \u00a0Someone that requires high action and total logic.\u00a0 \u00a0 That’s what works for her in a relationship.\u00a0 \u00a0Also not surprisingly my test results indicated that I was a person of affirmation.\u00a0 \u00a0Someone that is whimsical and playful\u00a0 who enjoys\u00a0 positive affirmations, or I like to call it “dumb love”.<\/p>\n
There are many cultural differences in the way I was brought up as compared as to how my wife was brought up.\u00a0 I had a very cushy upbringing.\u00a0 Hers was quite the opposite.\u00a0 I had everything in bulk.\u00a0 \u00a0Never really taught to not be wasteful.\u00a0 She was brought up in a world where things were not so plentiful.\u00a0 \u00a0Being resourceful was\u00a0 way of life.\u00a0 Waste nothing !!\u00a0 I will give you a couple quick bullets on what life is like in my household now:<\/p>\n
So now you get the idea, but we are getting off track a bit as to the subject of this post, but I wanted to convey the “strategic” thinking of some who grow up not having an abundance of everything.\u00a0 This post is about “dumb love”.\u00a0 \u00a0What I mean by that is you say silly things to each other that may not be totally true like\u00a0 “Gee honey, that was so nice of you… how did I get so lucky to have you in me life”\u00a0 or\u00a0 “wow do you look stunning in those clothes”\u00a0 or “I just want to tell you how much I love you babe” .\u00a0 You know… silly things.\u00a0 Not logical things.\u00a0 Maybe stretching the truth sometimes!<\/p>\n

My wife’s logic is something that can be very useful.\u00a0 Like she will do our taxes this year.\u00a0 I would have no clue.\u00a0 \u00a0Or she handles the travel arrangements as she knows how to break things down to get the best deal.\u00a0 Her determination led her to come to this country in her 20’s and she worked retail and put herself through college and got her degree and her masters degree, with no debt !\u00a0 \u00a0WTF?\u00a0 I never head of anyone doing that.\u00a0 Me?\u00a0 \u00a0I got my high school diploma in 1978 and they were handing them out like freebies.\u00a0 “You get a diploma!” and ‘You get a diploma”f<\/p>\n
My lovely wife is teaching me to be more logical, resourceful, forward thinking.<\/p>\n
I’m teaching her to be spur of the moment, no planning,\u00a0 just lets to out the front door and see where we end up.\u00a0 Giving dumb love affirmations.<\/p>\n
I think that we are good for each other.\u00a0 I need what she has, and she needs what I have.\u00a0 \u00a0Only thing is its must easier to teach someone like me who is wide open to change with no blinders on.\u00a0 But teaching someone\u00a0that grew like a soldier is tougher.\u00a0 She has a more narrow scope on letting loose and just being silly and loosey-goosey.<\/p>\n
